FOCUS TURNS TO OLYMPIC QUALIFICATION TOURNAMENTS

Lausanne, Switzerland, January 4, 2015 - The new year begins with Olympic Qualification Tournaments organised by the European, South American, NORCECA and African confederations. The first tournament of the year kicks off today with eight teams competing to qualify for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games at the European Women's Olympic Qualification Tournament in Ankara, Turkey from January 4-9.

Ankara, Turkey, January 04, 2016 - In a close first match in European Women's Olympic Qualification Tournament Pool A, Germany defeated the Netherlands in five sets 3-2 (26-28, 25-22, 25-22, 20-25, 15-11). Germany last participated in an Olympic tournament in 2004 and the Netherlands in 1996.
